first_imgWOBURN, MA — Charles R. Fox, Jr., of Woburn, 87, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday evening, February 4. He was the husband of Helene (Becker) Fox.Born in Meriden, CT, and raised in Watertown, MA and Conway, NH, he was the son of the late Charles, and the late Marjorie (Williams) Fox. “Charlie,” as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from Kennett High School in Conway, and he graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Accounting.Charlie began working for Cambridge Gas & Electric as a co-op student while at Northeastern University. He remained with Cambridge Gas & Electric, and later Eversource, throughout his entire career, retiring in 1997. Charlie had lived in Wilmington, Stoneham, Acton, and Arlington before coming to Woburn in 1992.Charlie was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Woburn, and had served as the church Treasurer. He was also an active volunteer and contributor to the Woburn Food Pantry. He was a lover of nature, gardening and an avid, amateur bird watcher and, in his younger years, Charlie was a competitive bowler.In addition to his wife Helene, Charlie is survived by two sons, Bruce Fox and his wife Nancy Pratt of Hopkinton, and C. Richard Fox and his wife Janet of Hollis, NH; one daughter, Charlene Soley and her husband Kirk of Tyngsboro; and two stepchildren, William Perkin and his wife Janice of Groveland, and April Gendall and her husband Robert of Arlington. Charlie is also survived by four grandchildren, Alexandra Littlefox and her spouse Samantha Littlefox of San Francisco, CA, Brandon Fox of Hollis, NH, Emily Fox of Hollis, NH, and Gerard Gendall of Arlington.A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 535 Main St., Woburn on Monday, February 11 at 10:00 am, followed by burial at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn, with reception to follow. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Sunday from 2-6 pm.
