‘New GAA proposal will only alienate club players even more’ – Martin McHugh

first_imgFormer Donegal player Martin McHugh has slammed the new GAA proposal for the restructuring of the All-Ireland Senior Championship – saying it will only alienate players even further! McHugh also said that the decision is all about making more money and revenue for the organisation. McHugh says the provincial championships must be scrapped, and that the imbalance between the amount of games teams in Ulster pay compared to other provinces isn’t resolved in the new restructuring modeMcHugh told The Irish Daily Star, “I believe it was done for the money.“It’s put us in a position where we have a better package to sell to TV companies.“Club football is not given time. They should do away with the provincial championships and that would solve everything. Instead, they are trying to find a way around it. There’s eight more games going into it, there won’t be time for the clubs. It’s making it 10 times worse.” The Kilcar manager added: “We end up having a better package, but where does club football stand? If we don’t have club footballers then we won’t have inter-county footballers.”‘New GAA proposal will only alienate club players even more’ – Martin McHugh was last modified: August 7th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:AngerClub PlayersGAAMartin McHughnewsproposalSlammedSportlast_img
