Online site for service seekers

first_imgSANTA CLARITA – The Santa Clarita Valley Resource Center has established a new Web service that enables residents and businesses to easily find volunteer opportunities. Residents can log on to www.scvrc.org and gain access to the volunteer portal, a community-based volunteer management site. Both English- and Spanish-speaking volunteers will be able to register and find opportunities posted by organizations in Santa Clarita. This service is free for all volunteers and the organizations who post the opportunities. In addition to finding volunteer opportunities, there are many features of the Web site a volunteer will find helpful. Volunteers can receive an e-mail called a Volunteer Alert whenever a new opportunity arises that matches their interests and availability. Users of the Web site can also track their service hours, create a personal calendar of upcoming events they have committed to, and track personal goals. “We are extremely excited that we have been able to provide the community with this much-needed volunteer Web site,” said Neil Shah, president of the center’s board. “For many years we have been asked by residents how they can learn about volunteering in the community. Whether they want to inspire a child, feed the hungry or just make the community a better place to live, the paths can be found with this new volunteer portal.” AD Quality Auto 360p 720p 1080p Top articles1/5READ MOREOregon Ducks football players get stuck on Disney ride during Rose Bowl eventThe idea for the volunteer portal came from the Nonprofit Leaders Council, a consortium of local nonprofit groups.
