A memorial service is pending for Carol Svendsen of Granada Hills, a longtime employee of Walt Disney Studios. Svendsen died Friday of a blood infection at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. She was 78. Carol Joyner was born on March 4, 1929, in Greeley, Colo. She moved to Los Angeles in 1947, and worked at Disney Studios as a tour guide, and in the pen and ink department and the archival department. She met her future husband, Julius Svendsen, an animator and writer, at the studios. He died in 1971. “She was an amazing woman. I think she was an excellent writer. Her e-mails to me were full of stories, drama and heart,” daughter Jan McAllister said. She also loved to play Scrabble, work in her garden and collect sea glass. Svendsen is survived by daughters Jan McAllister and Julie Svendsen; twin sons John and Fred Svendsen; and three grandchildren. A memorial service at her favorite beach in Santa Barbara is being planned. [email protected] (818) 713-3708 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
