A weekend crash on Sierra Yoyo Desan Road has resulted in one fatality and numerous injuries.On Saturday, Aug. 20 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Northern Rockies RCMP and Northern Rockies Traffic Services of Fort Nelson, responded to a two-vehicle collision at kilometre 54.5 on the Sierra Yoyo Desan Road near Fort Nelson.- Advertisement -The collision involved a northbound pickup truck with two occupants, who entered a cloud of dust, created by a commercial vehicle they were attempting to pass. The northbound truck then collided with a southbound pickup truck in a head-on collision. The southbound vehicle was carrying two passengers.The driver of the northbound vehicle was a 50 year old Fort St. John resident. He was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries sustained in the collision. According to the RCMP he was not wearing his seatbelt during the time of the collision.The driver of the southbound pickup sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle by Fort Nelson Fire and Rescue.All three crash survivors were transported to Fort Nelson Hospital for treatment, where the surviving driver and a passenger were later transported by air to an Edmonton, Alberta hospital for further care.Advertisement The three survivors were all wearing their seatbelts during the time of the crash.Investigators remain interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the crash or either vehicle prior to the collision.
