Stoke should have had TWO penalties against Man United, claims Hughes

first_imgMark Hughes felt Stoke did not get what they deserved against Manchester United – and pointed the finger of blame at referee Michael Oliver. The Potters picked up a point against in-form United at the Britannia Stadium to make it three games unbeaten. But Hughes was unhappy after the game as he claimed his side should have been awarded two second-half penalties. He felt Chris Smalling should have been penalised for a handball in the box during the second-half, while also believed a spot-kick should have been given for a foul on Geoff Cameron soon after.“We had two clear penalty claims which should have been given,” claimed Hughes.“Smalling has lost Peter [Crouch] on the initial header and he is just trying to get something in the way of the ball. It was a goal-bound header and he has made an intentional movement with his arm to bat the ball down.“The referee is clearly standing there four or five yards away from it so, why he hasn’t given it, I don’t know.“And when we hit the post from Peter’s header, it has come back out and Geoff Cameron has been taken out. He is just waiting to put the ball over the line and he gets taken out.“From our point of view, it is two clear-cut penalties. Overall on chances created and momentum, we were the better team.”last_img read more

PNP newly supports Service Charge calls on Premier to ensure passage in
